As of right now the plan is to fill the bottle with gravel up to the line on the bottom quarter. On top of that, we will fill it to the halfway mark with good ol' Nebraska soil, and put some decaying leaves on the top. The organisms we plan to put inside include several small onion plants, a night crawler or two, and some micro organisms that will live in the leaves. Water will be added into the gravel in the bottom, and also on the top of the soil.
We are going to cut off the top of the bottle a quarter down the side to install our ecosystem. Then it will be sealed, and cut of from the atmosphere.
The observations we make in the following weeks will be recorded on this blog.
